About Let's Do A Play:

Let’s Do A Play offers students an opportunity to focus on scenes from one play, allowing a chance to create a world as an ensemble and dive deep into character. Building upon the Meisner skills taught at Green Shirt, students will use a Stanislavski-based approach in this class with a focus on driving the action and doing vs. indicating.

Konstantin Stanislavsky was a Russian actor, director and founder of the Moscow Art Theatre. His research and acting methods were introduced to Sanford Mesiner in the 1930s (along with other members of the Group Theatre). His work was a foundation to Meisner’s own process.

Actors will deepen their relationship to text, character and action while honing in on skills of listening, reacting and rehearsing with others. A full-body, full-heart exploration for a group of actors who are ready to give it their all and play generously with others.

Things to Know

Location:

Our studio is located at 4001 N Ravenswood Ave. It’s a large industrial building at the corner of Ravenswood and Irving Park.

Parking:

Free parking is available outside our building’s front door on Ravenswood Ave. If you don’t see parking right out front, keep driving north and you can typically find a spot within a few blocks.

Transportation:

We’re steps away from the Irving Park Bus and Brown Line Station. We also have a Divvy Bike station right outside our front door.

Doors open at:

Door will open 30 minutes before the start time of your event. You’re welcome to get here early but the studio will not be unlocked prior to 30 minutes before the event start time.

How to Enter the Building:

At the callbox outside Dial 303 to be buzzed into the front door. This event takes place in Studio 303-B. Take the stairs or passenger elevator up to the 3rd floor. The elevator is small and from the early 20th century but it works!
