Based in London and Berlin, and comprising guitarist Moss Freed (Union Division, Spike Orchestra), saxophonist Chris Williams (Led Bib, The Heliocentrics), bassist Ruth Goller (Skylla, Laura Jurd) & drummer Finlay Panter (Beats & Pieces Big Band), Let Spin are a cutting edge post-jazz quartet who have been making waves in the UK and European jazz scenes since their formation in 2012.
Their collaborative way of working produces an explosive mixture of stylistic influences whilst their focus on improvisation leads to powerful live performances, allowing the music to venture into territories that are unforeseen even to the musicians themselves. Following on from their critically-acclaimed 2022 release Thick As Thieves, the band will be releasing their fifth album I am Alien on Discus.
Building on the band’s explosive live sound in the studio, I am Alien sees the band introduce an expansion of their sound worlds and explorations with the additions of Ruth Goller’s vocals and Chris Williams’ baritone saxophone and flute. The creation of I am Alien has taken the band’s interplay and fusing of composition and improvisation to a whole new level, with spectacular results.
