Let It Be-Tending Covenant, Moving at the Speed of Trust, Listening to Connect, Perception is Reality, and Imagining a Better WorldPaul McCartney wrote, “...when the night is cloudy, there is still a light that shines on me. ... Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be.” In these lines, he reflected upon his own mother, who had passed away. Yet her memory remained a blessing—continuing to offer him comfort, guidance, and support.
At TVUUC, we too have our own “Mother Mary.” She is embodied in our covenant—our profound commitment to care for one another and our community through right relations. To “let it be,” to allow it to become a true blessing, we must work together to nurture and uphold this covenant.
In today’s service, members of our newly constituted Right Relations Team will share Unitarian Universalist perspectives on covenant: what it means, how we may tend it with intention, the necessity of moving at the speed of trust, the centrality of listening to foster genuine connection, the recognition that our perceptions shape our reality, and the ways in which right relations within our community can help us envision—and indeed, create—a more compassionate and just world.
