Let\u2019s Get Comfortable: Sexual health, disability, and professional practice This session is open to healthcare professionals, support workers, commissioners, and anyone working with disabled people.
About this Event

Luton Sexual Health and Enhance the UK invite you to a fun, engaging, professional learning event focused on improving sexual health practice with disabled people.

This session is for healthcare professionals, support workers, educators, commissioners, and anyone working with disabled people who wants to build confidence, reflect on practice, and learn from lived experience.

What is this session about?

Disabled people have the same rights, needs, and desires around love, sex, and relationships as anyone else - yet many professionals say they feel unsure about:

  • What to say
  • How to say it
  • Where boundaries sit
  • What good practice really looks like

This session creates a safe, honest space to explore those questions together.

Led jointly by Luton Sexual Health and the Enhance the UK Love Lounge team - all of whom are disabled themselves - the session blends professional knowledge with real-life insight to challenge assumptions and support better practice.

What to expect

This is not a lecture. It is interactive, reflective, and practical.

You will:

  • Hear lived experience from disabled practitioners
  • Explore real-life case studies and professional scenarios
  • Share learning and good practice across services
  • Ask questions in a supportive, non-judgemental environment
  • Receive practical guidance and feedback you can take back to your role

There will also be:

  • A short tour of the sexual health clinic
  • Time to meet and speak with clinical professionals
  • The opportunity to learn more about the Love Lounge’s one-to-one support for disabled people

Who should attend?

This event is suitable for:

  • Healthcare professionals
  • Support workers
  • Educators
  • Commissioners
  • Anyone seeking to deliver more confident, inclusive, and person-centred sexual health support for disabled people

You will leave with practical ideas, new perspectives, and many things to think about!
