Come, as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ with a special, candlelight service on Christmas Eve at Old Hickory Blvd. “Lessons and Carols” is a traditional service celebrated by churches throughout time and across the globe. It began in the late 1800s in the Cathedral of Turo in the UK, and was later performed regularly at Kings College in Cambridge beginning in 1918. There are seven lessons from Scripture, leading us from Isaiah’s prophecy of the Messiah’s birth to the annunciation to the visit of the magi. Carols are sung by the congregation in response to each lesson. Please note, there will be two services, held at 3 and 5 p.m.
