Get ready to power up with science and engineering!
Lemon Battery Engineering Lab is a fun hands-on STEM workshop for students ages 6–12 and part of the CHEMISTRY ENGINEERING WEEK at the Washington Heights STEM Center. Students will explore electrochemistry by building simple batteries using lemons, potatoes, and other everyday materials while learning how chemical reactions can create electricity.
Throughout the workshop, participants will discover concepts connected to clean energy, circuits, and battery engineering through exciting experiments and creative problem-solving activities. Students will test, build, and explore how engineers use electrochemistry in real-world technology and renewable energy systems.
All workshops are completely free. The only requirement for participation is submitting a Washington Heights STEM Center Member Card using the following link:
