50 years ago………..Leland High School class of 1976 reunion this summer/fall.
It’s been 50 years since you bought your first case of beer at Fred’s county store, or popped a quarter in the Round Table juke box and played “Slow Ride” by Foghat (the only song worth hearing on that juke box) or keg party at the Tressal by the creek……….Anyway……we are putting together another reunion for the class of 1976 (any class is welcome, actually).
We are thinking about an outdoor venue ( Vasona, park in Los Gatos) where we can BBQ, recreation, that kind of get together. Unfortunattly almost all the dates are taken and reserved Saturday August 1st almost the only available date (sorry if that does not work for everyone). I agreed to take the lead. Estimated price $80 per person, Includes early lunch/dinner out door BBQ/ finger food, BYOB. Our main worry all dates being taken Ciircle park at Vasona holds 150 people and is locked in. Please help get the word out and reserve the date. I will be sending out a venmo -scan code-bar code in the next 2 weeks to start collecting the money. Reunion update!! Kevin Conway is going to lead a 4.6-mile round trip hike Saturday August 1st, 2026. We all meet at the parking lot at the top of Mt Umunhum at 8:00 AM on Saturday morning August 1st, 2026. The trail starts from the summit of Mt Umunhum and descends and switchbacks 2.3 miles through a mixed forest canopy to a rocky overlook of Guadalupe Creek headwaters with the ridgelines above and valleys below. It is a 702’ elevation gain trail switch backing back up to the summit. I did it last year with the class of 1975 and everyone made it and enjoyed the experience. Anyone with the All Trails App can look up the hike Guadalupe Creek Overlook from Mt Umunhum and preview the trail.
