Leisurely Bike Ride to Windsor, Recce Ride before the Amsterdam Ride

Intermediate road ride of about 28 miles one way or 55 miles return. Good fitness is required. Mostly well-paved surfaces and easy to ride.
About this Event

This is a leisure ride, all are invited. This ride is also a recce ride for anyone attending the London to Amsterdam Ride.

Meet at from 8:30 am for an 8:45 cycle briefing. We would like to depart at 9:00 am. It will be a long ride of 7-8 hours including the rest stops. We will ride to Windsor at a slow leisurely pace, approximately 10-12 m/h. This ride is about 28 miles one way. It includes some hills, cycling on main roads, cycling along heavy traffic as well as cycling through beautiful parks and cycle paths. We wait for riders after steep hills to allow everyone to rest and continue as a group. If you are not able to keep up you can ride with us to Kingston and return to Hammersmith. For your return journey, we recommend that you take a train back to London. The Amsterdam Riders should ride the full ride of 55 miles.

Our route takes us through Barnes, Richmond Park, Kingston, Shepperton, and all the way to Windsor. We will have a rest stop at the Sunbury Embroidery Gallery. You can buy refreshments at the cafe. Once we reach Windsor, we will have a refreshment stop at the famous Cinnamon Cafe in Windsor, where cyclists are welcome and there is a safe parking area for our bikes. Good menu, a variety of main meals and cakes.

We expect to be back at Brook Green at about 7-8 pm or earlier if you are coming back by train.

We take pictures during the ride. If you are coming to the ride you consent to your photographs being used to promote HFC’s aims and work. To opt out please speak to a ride marshal on the day.

As part of our agreed fundraising, if you wish to donate a Pound or more on this ride, please bring along a £1 coin or cash as required.

Bring locks, lights and carry a spare inner tube or a puncture repair kit. Bring a rain jacket just in case.
