Leila Abdul-Rauf draws you into a cinematic sound world that explores the darkest corners of the psyche, conceptually delving into the deep vastness of the psyche of woman: wild, ugly, vulnerable, and powerful. On this evening, Leila will showcase pieces throughout her vast catalogue, from the more improvisational and textural ambience of her earlier work to the more rhythmic and vocally-driven intensity of her recent albums.

Leila Abdul-Rauf is a highly eclectic composer and multi-instrumentalist performer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a main songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, lyricist, and co-founder of extreme metal band Vastum and electronic ambient trio Ionophore. As a solo artist, Leila has released five full-length albums under her name – with a sixth on its way – and has collaborated with countless others. Using voice, trumpet and synthesizer as primary instruments, Leila masterfully blends influences ranging from classic film soundtrack ambience to industrial and dark wave, infusing folk melodies that recall her Celtic and North African ancestry. Leila has toured nationally and internationally, including performances at Hopscotch Music Festival in 2016, the San Francisco Electronic Music Festival reception in 2018, the Arab American National Museum in 2024, and the San Francisco Gray Area Theater in 2025.
