Teach Earth is a professional teacher training to build your knowledge & confidence in leading inspiring environmental & outdoor education.
About this Event

Teach Earth is a professional teacher training programme led by the Earthwatch Europe Education Team. This training is divided into multiple workshops across the academic year and will focus on the needs and priorities of science, outdoor learning and geography leads and teachers interested in environmental topics in education settings across Leicester.

This Teach Earth training will be delivered in 4 parts.

Part 1 on 17th April 2024 is a 1.5-hours online co-creation workshop where we will introduce our programme and together co-create the learning outcomes based on the participants’ ideas, experiences and concerns that we will further explore in Parts 2 and 3.

Part 2 on 21st May 2024 is a full-day in-person training at Queensmead Primary Academy, consisting of a series of informative and practical sessions empowering you to include more environmental and outdoor education in your curriculum, including the use of the Tiny Forest project where applicable. As we progress through the programme, the content will expand towards holistic whole-school approaches for science and sustainability leadership.

Parts 3 (this event on 18th June) and 4 (18th September) will be an online action workshop to discuss action planning, practicalities and obstacles that we will seek to overcome together.

Please notice that this is Part 3 of the training. Please find the sign up for Parts 1, 2 and 4 in the Leicester Teach Earth Training collection on Eventbrite.

What's involved?

This Part 3 of the training consists of a series of sections covering the following themes:

  • Informal catch-up after the full-day event and reflections on lessons learnt so far;
  • Discussion on practicalities and finding the right resources and solutions together;
  • Discussion on action steps and strategies to try before the end of the academic year, as well as intention setting for the next academic year;
  • Q & A with the Earthwatch Education Team for individual support.

Who is this training for?

The programme is appropriate for EYFS, Primary and Secondary teachers, teaching assistants and informal educators and will seek to create a network to share best practice and valuable lessons between the participants for sustained action.
