About this Event
Teach Earth is a professional teacher training programme led by the Earthwatch Europe Education Team. This training is divided into multiple workshops across the academic year and will focus on the needs and priorities of science, outdoor learning and geography leads and teachers interested in environmental topics in education settings across Leicester.
This Teach Earth training will be delivered in 4 parts.
This workshop, Part 2, is a full-day in-person training at Queensmead Primary Academy, consisting of a series of informative and practical sessions empowering you to include more environmental and outdoor education in your science curriculum leadership. As we progress through the programme with other upcoming dates, the content will expand towards holistic whole-school approaches for science and sustainability leadership.
Parts 3 (18th June) and 4 (18th September) will be an online action workshop to discuss action planning, practicalities and obstacles that we will seek to overcome together.
What's involved?
Part 2 of the training consists of a series of practical workshops covering the following themes (in addition to other themes as informed by the online co-creation session in Part 1):
- Environmental education subject knowledge
- A carousel of hands-on activities outdoors
- Eco-anxiety and connection to nature
- Pedagogy of outdoor and environmental education
Who is this training for?
The programme is appropriate for EYFS, Primary and Secondary teachers, teaching assistants and informal educators and will seek to create a network to share best practice and valuable lessons between the participants for sustained action. This Part 2 of the training will be powerful in providing opportunities to practise and further embed environmental and outdoor learning principles in your classroom and across the school and will support with ideas for using Tiny Forest in your teaching.
