About this Event

Join our experienced botanists as we take a foray into the fascinating world of urban plant diversity, often totally overlooked and right on our doorstep. Over just a short distance you'll be stunned at the abundance of flourishing plant life and the importance they play in our lives.

Russell and Lindsey-Anne will guide you on a journey that will open your eyes to a new way of seeing what incredible beauty lies right under our noses.

This is a slow paced walk of approximately 1 mile, lasting approximately 90 minutes, leading towards Belgrave Cemetery with stops along the way to learn about the wildflowers that we come across. Meet on Barnwell Avenue near to the junction with Thurcaston Road.

New Walkers

If you have not walked with Leicester City Council before we will ask you to complete our Walker Registration form in advance of the walk online or by phone. You will receive an email with a link to the online form in the days leading up to the event. You only need to do this once and can attend any of our walks thereafter (subject to booking a place on Eventbrite).

Dress for the weather

Remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Our group walks will go ahead in most weather. We recommend the following:

• Comfortable sturdy footwear

• Bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain

• On cooler days wear appropriate layers and a coat/jacket

• On hot days we recommend a hat and sunscreen

• Please bring a bottle of water with you.

Group size

We ask walkers to book in advance so we can keep our group sizes manageable.
