Jeden z nejpopulárnějších a nejzásadnějších titulů nejen v žánru road movie, ale celé americké popkultury 90. let neztratil ani po několika dekádách nic ze své působivosti a výmluvnosti. Svého času se film stal nečekaným hitem, ale také ústředním námětem celospolečenské diskuse na téma toxické maskulinity, patriarchátu a emancipace žen.
Současně také Thelma a Louise přináší uhrančivou oslavu svobody a přátelství, která popkultuře dala jednu z nejikoničtějších dvojic. Geena Davis a Susan Sarandon svými fantastickými výkony korunují úchvatně obsazený film, kde jim sekundují Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen či tehdy začínající Brad Pitt.
Oceňovaný režisér Ridley Scott maximálně vytěžil potenciál scénáře a dal mu vybroušenou filmovou podobu. Autorka scénáře Callie Khouri si za tento svůj první realizovaný scénář odnesla Oscara a nominace na zlatou sošku získali vedle obou hlavních představitelek a režiséra také kameraman Adrian Biddle či střihač Thom Noble.

🚗 The picture-perfect housewife Thelma and her sardonic bartender friend Louise are going on a fishing trip, which turns into a run for freedom with the police hot on their trail. One of the most popular and most influential films not only in the road movie genre, but also of the whole of US pop culture of the early 90s did not lose any of its power message even after nearly 30 years since its premiere. At that time, it became an unexpected hit but also the topic of a heated social debate about toxic masculinity, patriarchy and female emancipation.
But it is also an immersive ode to freedom and friendship, which has given us one of cinemas most iconic buddy pairings. Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon give the performances of their lifetime in a fantastically cast movie, also starring Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen and an up-and-coming Brad Pitt.
As is always the case with his films, Ridley Scott has maximized the potential of the original screenplay and has turned it into a timeless movie, much like his legendary Alien, Blade Runner or Legend. The first-time screenwriter Callie Khouri won an Oscar and further nominations went to the both leading ladies, the director and also to cinematographer Adrian Biddle and editor Thom Noble.
