Legal Responses to Climate Change: Variety, Radicalism & Futility?
The prognosis for meeting the Paris Agreement’s global temperature rise target of 1.5C appears increasingly illusory. Yet legal responses to addressing climate change risk have shown variety and even arguably, radicalism in their approaches. This talk by David M. Ong, Professor of International & Environmental Law at LJMU, will highlight both the sheer variety and quite radical nature of these international and national legal responses, while asking whether even more, transformational social change is required to actually secure a better environmental future for all of us.
