The late Robert Hower ('Bob') was an immense influence on the 'band' movement in Australia from his groundbreaking work with the Elder Conservatorium.
Ten years on from the founding of Adelaide Wind Orchestra, this concert explores his legacy in Adelaide and Australia.
Featuring some of Bob's favourites and guest speakers, his legacy of new band music and commissions continues with the World Premiere of Connor Fogarty's Oboe Concerto (Soloist - Celia Craig) and Australian Premiere of Frank Ticheli's Lux Perpetua.
There will be an opportunity for Bob's Elder Conservatorium Wind Orchestra alumni to honour Bob at the end of the concert in a massed ensemble performance. Please select this ticket option if you are intending on playing in this massed ensemble.
This concert is part of a series in tribute to Bob that includes the Elder Conservatorium Wind Orchestra Friday lunchtime concert on Friday 2 September, 'In Memory'. https://able.adelaide.edu.au/music/engage/concert-series#lunchtime-concerts-season-two
Further activities on Saturday 3 September may be announced.
