About this Event

Attendance will earn 1 CE, pending approval.

The University of Denver Community Commons is a LEED Silver certified educational facility in South Denver. The four-story building is comprised of various student-serving functions, including lounge spaces, meeting rooms, food retail, and student support offices. The building design is inspired by canyons in the surrounding region, and it’s built with materials that evoke the local geology.

Attendees will hear directly from members of the project team to learn about the building’s LEED features, including enhanced HVAC, green roof design, stormwater management, sustainable materials, and how project location and density were utilized to maximize LEED credits.

Agenda:

2:45 pm – Check-In

3:00 – 4:00 pm – Tour

4:00 - 4:30 – Optional networking + happy hour on the 4th floor of the Community Commons

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain the design team’s decision and approach to achieving LEED v4 Silver certification for this new construction project.
  2. Illustrate how the project achieved Location & Transportation credits and offered community amenities to students.
  3. Identify the strategies used to achieve Energy & Atmosphere points, including enhanced commissioning and optimized energy performance.
  4. Discover how the green roof, stormwater management, and high-efficiency water fixtures and fittings reduced overall water consumption and improved water quality and discharge rate.
