π€ Speaker: Dr. Jeremy Nowak
Join us for an exciting evening with Dr. Jeremy Nowak as we explore the fascinating chemistry behind the flavors we love. Have you ever wondered what makes meat taste like meat? How can we create innovative flavors and proteins without harming our planet?
Dr. Nowak is a leading flavor scientist, dedicated to developing food technologies that reduce our environmental impact and enhance the resilience of our global food system. In this engaging lecture, he will share insights on how scientists characterize flavor molecules, the role of cultural anthropology in flavor development, and the interdisciplinary nature of creating the foods of tomorrow. Attendees may even have the chance to enjoy some tasty treats featuring cutting-edge food technologies!
Jeremy received his PhD in Physical Chemistry from UC-Berkeley, where he focused on advanced techniques for environmental analysis. After a post-doc, he worked at Impossible Foods, merging his passions for science and sustainability. Currently, he is the senior flavor scientist and head of protein sciences at The Every Company, where he produces egg protein through precision fermentation.
