🧠Lecture: "The Science and Philosophy of Free Will"
🎤 Speaker: Professor Jeremy Evans
Join us for a thought-provoking evening as Professor Jeremy Evans examines one of the most debated questions in human history: do we truly have free will? Our everyday lives, from criminal sentencing to how we judge our friends and family, rest on the assumption that people freely choose their actions.
Drawing on recent work in both philosophy and brain science, Professor Evans will explore what human volition really is and what it means for moral responsibility. Does neuroscience threaten the idea of free will? If so, how should that change the way we think about punishment, praise, blame, and forgiveness?
Dr. Jeremy Evans received his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014 and now directs the Managing for Social Impact program at Boston College, where he works at the intersection of ethics, responsibility, and social outcomes.
