🧠Lecture: "Psychiatrist Explains: Why Your Brain Craves the Sacred"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Mena Mirhom, MD, FAPA
What if your brain isn’t just built to think—but to transcend?
From the early desert fathers to cutting-edge neuroscientists, there’s a growing recognition that some of our most powerful mental states don’t come from doing more, but from thinking differently. In this engaging—and beer-friendly—talk, psychiatrist Dr. Mena Mirhom unpacks the emerging science behind what he calls sacred thinking: mental patterns that help us tap into clarity, meaning, and something beyond ourselves.
You’ll explore why practices like stillness, prayer, and reflection are now being validated by neuroscience, how your brain’s highest functions are shaped by attention and intention, and what it really means to train your mind for depth in a world built for distraction.
Dr. Mirhom is a psychiatrist, speaker, and media contributor known for translating complex psychology into practical tools on relationships, identity, and performance. He serves as Chief Wellbeing Officer for Athletes for Hope, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center, and works with elite athletes across major sports leagues.
