📚 Lecture: "Purring Predators: How House Cats Impact the Natural World"

🎤 Speaker: PhD Candidate, Tyus D. Williams

In this captivating lecture, Tyus D. Williams will delve into the complex history of domestic cats and their significant impact on the ecology of the natural world as non-endemic predators. This exploration will cover a breadth of literature coupled with personal research, all laced with pop culture references and engaging visuals.

Tyus Williams is a fifth-year NSF GRFP fellow, ESPM fellow, and Ph.D. candidate at UC Berkeley, where he studies carnivore and spatial ecology. His research centers on the ecological impacts of free-roaming domestic cats in the East Bay region, using methods like camera trapping and behavioral analysis to understand their influence on wildlife communities. An accomplished author, he published his debut book, A Day in the Life: Big Cats, which received recognition in Kirkus Reviews' ‘Best Picture Books of 2022 for Animal Lovers.’
