🧠Lecture: "The Science and Art of Fragrance"
🎤 Speaker: Prof. Julian R. Silverman
Fragrance is where chemistry meets creativity, transforming volatile molecules into memories, moods, and desire. Join us for an immersive evening as Prof. Julian R. Silverman reveals how perfumes and scents are designed, from the molecular structures that create aroma to the way our brains interpret and respond to smell.
You’ll explore how perfumers blend natural and synthetic ingredients, how new fragrance materials are invented, and why a single scent can transport you through time or shift your emotional state.
Dr. Silverman is an Assistant Professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he teaches cosmetic chemistry. His research focuses on turning waste materials into high-value consumer products, including transforming farm waste into synthetic vanilla. He is also developing scratch-and-sniff technologies to create multi-sensory learning experiences for his students and audiences.
Come discover how invisible molecules become powerful tools of memory, identity, and imagination. Get a drink, connect, and learn at Lectures on Tap! 🙌
