🧠Lecture: "The Laws of Thought: Neural Networks & the Math of Mind"
🎙️ Speaker: Professor Tom Griffiths
Everyone learns about the Laws of Nature in school—concepts like force, acceleration, and gravity that help us explain the physical world. But what about the world inside our heads? How do we understand the Laws of Thought that govern the mind itself?
In this fascinating talk, Professor Tom Griffiths will reveal how mathematics has been used to study thinking, decision-making, and intelligence. He will walk us through three major approaches to formalizing thought—rules and symbols, neural networks, and probability and statistics—using the stories of the scientists and innovators behind each breakthrough.
Professor Tom Griffiths is the Henry R. Luce Professor of Information Technology, Consciousness and Culture in the Departments of Psychology and Computer Science at Princeton University. He directs Princeton's Computational Cognitive Science Lab and the Princeton Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence. He is coauthor of the book Algorithms to Live By, and his award-winning research has appeared in Science, Nature, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
