📚 Lecture: “The Cultural History of the Music Video”

🎤 Speaker: Professor, Dr. Tom Rizzuto

While music videos became a cultural phenomenon in the 1980s, their origins trace back to the 1960s and even earlier. But what really constitutes the "first" music video? Join Dr. Tom Rizzuto for an insightful lecture that examines how the music video interlinked music and visuals, transforming the music industry and spawning a new era of artistic expression.

From marking a second British invasion to bringing Hip Hop into the mainstream, music videos have generated both excitement and controversy. They catapulted unknown artists to stardom while simultaneously erasing the careers of some major musicians.

Dr. Rizzuto is a professor of music history, guitar, and media at Molloy University and SUNY Old Westbury. His research focuses on the intersections between music and cultural shifts, and his work has been featured in various prominent publications and podcasts.

Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the rich history and impact of the music video!
