📚 Lecture: "The 3% Who Broke Into The Economics Boys' Club"
🎤 Speaker: Economist, Dr. Dhruv Khurana
Since 1969, 99 economists have won the Nobel Prize. Nine have been named Robert. Only three have been women.
In this lecture, we spotlight the stories and ideas of the three women who didn’t just break into economics — they reshaped it. Learn how Elinor Ostrom challenged the myth of the "tragedy of the commons," how Esther Duflo transformed how we fight poverty through field experiments, and how Claudia Goldin uncovered the long history of gender inequality in the labor market.
Economist Dhruv Gaur connects their legacies to today’s most urgent questions: How do we share limited resources? What actually works to reduce poverty? And why, even now, are women paid less?
Dhruv is a public economist focused on health policy and the social drivers of care. His work draws inspiration from all three laureates and their trailblazing methods. A former educator and self-declared Esther Duflo stan, he’s passionate about making economics more inclusive, more experimental, and more human.
Whether you’ve never heard of these women or already admire them, come hear how they changed what economics is — and who it's for.
