📚 Lecture: "Project Hail Mary: Science Without a Safety Net"

🎤 Speaker: Astrophysicist, Dr. Jay White

Join us for an enlightening evening with astrophysicist Dr. Jay White as he delves into the intriguing world of Andy Weir’s upcoming film, Project Hail Mary. Rather than retelling the story, Dr. White will explore the narrative through four interwoven themes that address the complexities of interstellar travel.

The lecture will cover the vast scale and isolation of space, the challenges of recognizing unfamiliar forms of life, and the role of science as real-time problem-solving under pressure. Additionally, Dr. White will address profound questions about why curiosity and cooperation become essential for survival in an unpredictable universe.

Dr. Jay White is the Director of the Talcott Mountain Research Institute in Connecticut. With over three decades of experience, he has held numerous roles including professor, provost, and international science program leader. Passionate about science education and outreach, he has collaborated on projects spanning six continents and engages students of all ages. Alongside his professional pursuits, he enjoys music and culinary adventures, and is a proud father of two sons, Sebastian Artemis and Alistair Clyde.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain fresh insights into science and meaning with the distinguished Dr. Jay White!
