🧠Lecture: "Prohibition: What Did We Learn"
🎤 Speaker: Professor Torrey Grant
Join us for a spirited evening as Professor Torrey Grant uncorks the past to explore what America really learned from Prohibition—and what its legacy means today, as prohibition sentiments rise again.
We’ll look beyond the speakeasy nostalgia to examine how the 18th Amendment reshaped culture, crime, politics, and drinking habits, and what ultimately led to its repeal. What worked, what failed spectacularly, and how are those same tensions showing up in modern debates around alcohol and other substances?
Professor Grant teaches the popular “Beer and Wine Appreciation” course at Syracuse University and works as a retail consultant and educator for Wegmans and Liquor City. Known for his unconventional approach—like pairing Champagne with hotdogs—Grant combines deep expertise with a love for fun, approachable flavors.
Come raise a glass, challenge what you think you know about Prohibition, and leave with a fresh perspective on how history still shapes what’s in your glass today.
