Lecture: "Hope in Hopeless Times"
Speaker: Professor Dhananjay Jagannathan
Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking evening as Dr. Dhananjay Jagannathan, Professor of Philosophy, explores the nature and role of hope in our lives and society.
Is hope an attitude that we have only in relation to what we do not expect to happen? Does that mean hope is always irrational or unreasonable? What can we learn from the (Christian theological) idea that hope is not merely a feeling or an act but can also be understood as a virtue? What is the role of hope in social and political movements?
Dr. Jagannathan specializes in ancient and medieval philosophy, ethics, and political thought. His recent book, Aristotle's Practical Epistemology (Oxford University Press), explores Aristotle’s views on wisdom, justice, and community.
Don’t miss this opportunity to dive into the complexities of hope with Dr. Jagannathan.
