📚 Lecture: "Decolonizing the Witch: Awaken to the Bruja Within"

🎤 Speaker: Dr. Griselda Rodriguez-Solomon & Dr. Miguelina Rodriguez

In this multidisciplinary lecture, Dr. Griselda Rodriguez-Solomon and Dr. Miguelina Rodriguez unveil the reclamation of the “witch” or “bruja” as a source of socio-psychological resistance. This resurgence of Goddess-based ancestral practices worldwide reflects a profound need to challenge oppressive structures such as racism, sexism, and homophobia.

Participants will explore the historical trajectory of the “witch” as a symbol of feminist and feminine political resistance. A focus on critical race theory will center on witches of color to disrupt the potential white-centric cooptation of this ancestral resurgence. The entire experience will be driven by love.

The Brujas of Brooklyn, identical twin PhDs, merge ancestral medicine with intellectual rigor. As certified yoga instructors and professors in the Social Sciences at City College of New York (CUNY), they design multi-sensory workshops addressing intergenerational trauma with a focus on womb imbalances. Their work has been featured on platforms such as ABC, NPR, and Univision. Joy is their ultimate form of resistance.
