About this Event
Despite more than 50 years of history, skateboarding remains widely misunderstood because its rules are largely unwritten and its spaces are informal. This presentation explores the cultural anthropology of skateboarding, examining the behaviors, social hierarchies, and significance of shared “skate spots” within the community. Drawing on research and personal experience, it highlights how skateboarding fosters resilience and can even help revitalize challenged environments.
