A look at the work of National Air Traffic Services in the UK.The complex issue of safely moving aircraft through the skies across the UK and beyond is like 3D chess with every ‘piece’ co-ordinated by several air traffic controllers working in harmony to maintain safe separation through corridors in the sky. As well they assist those 'pieces' operating in non-regulated airspace. This task all the while contends with different directions, airspeeds and heights as well as unexpected events that can upset the chessboard.
