$20 per personSet against the landscapes of the Southwest, The Bright Edges of the World by Garrett Peck explores how Willa Cather transformed her travels through New Mexico into one of the great works of American literature, Death Comes for the Archbishop. Drawing on letters, photographs, and historical insight, Peck traces Cather’s journeys across the region and reveals how place, culture, and companionship shaped her creative vision.
Join us for a lively lecture on the landscapes that inspired Cather, illuminating the intersections of Southwestern history and storytelling. Core Los Poblanos values such as sense of place, stewardship of land, and reverence for traditional craft echo throughout Cather’s writing. Through stories, images, and historical insight, this talk offers an exploration of the Southwest as both lived experience and enduring inspiration.
Guests are invited to visit the Library Bar at La Quinta between 4:30 and 5:30 PM before the performance begins at 5:30 PM.
