Michelle Craig McDonald has worked for nearly three decades as an educator and administrator in university settings as well as museums and historic sites. Her research focuses on trade and consumer behavior in North America and the Caribbean during the 18th and 19th centuries—especially the history of coffee--and has been supported by grants by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Fulbright Foundation, the Harvard Business School, the Library Company of Philadelphia, the McNeil Center for Early American Studies, and the Winterthur Museum & Library. Her most recent book, Coffee Nation: How One Commodity Transformed the Early United States was published by the University of Pennsylvania Press in 2025.
The Pennsylvania Antiques Show is a new event highlighting the best of Americana as well as fine art, folk art, garden antiques, jewelry, European and Chinese decorative arts, along with standout pieces of 20th-century art and design. The show will be held at the convention center at Valley Forge Casino Resort, just minutes from Valley Forge National Historical Park.
Proceeds from the show will benefit Historic Trappe's educational programs, including living history demonstrations, hands-on workshops led by traditional artisans, and free events such as Kids Dig History! and a popular lecture series.
