--WEEKEND SCHEDULE--
FRIDAY
Sizzling Pop Sharki Choreography
7pm - 9pm
Move with energy and flair! In this workshop, we will learn an energetic, sassy pop choreography in Simon’s signature style - full of personality and fun, connected to the lyrics, and with plenty of room for your own flavor and interpretation. Dancers in this class will have the option to perform this choreography in a casual setting on Saturday evening!
SATURDAY
Social Dabke from the Source
10:30am - 12:30pm
Step into the joy and energy of Lebanese dabke! In this workshop, Simon will guide you through the foundations of folk dabke, exploring traditional steps, rhythm, and etiquette. You’ll learn how to read and flow with the group, then dive into fun step variations and combos. From there, we’ll turn up the heat and transition into a more modern dabke style. Simon will show how contemporary movement and stylization blend with folk steps to create today’s vibrant social dabke!
The Art of the Hip Circle
1:30pm - 3:30pm
From Tahiya Carioca to Nadia Gamal and beyond, explore how one of the most iconic movements in belly dance has evolved and been stylized across generations. We will explore technique, posture, nuance, and expression, discovering how subtle changes transform the feeling and flavor of our hip circles.

SUNDAY
Brunch & Learn
10am - brunch begins
Throw on your fanciest galabeya and head over to the venue early for light brunch fare, good conversation, and delicious espresso drinks handmade by barista Jacob prior to our last movement workshop of the weekend! This special edition of brunch will also feature a lecture by Simon - sip on coffee and soak up his knowledge.
11am - Lecture
The Evolution of Raks Sharki in Lebanon
Join Simon for a lecture focused on the rich history of Raks Sharki in Lebanon. From its folkloric roots to the contemporary styles seen today, Simon will explore how the dance has evolved over time. Discover key dancers throughout the ages, their signature movement styles, and the stylistic innovations that define Lebanese style raks sharki.
Classic Sharki Choreo & Combos
12:30pm - 2pm
Step into the elegance and flair of classic Lebanese sharki! We will learn pieces of choreography to the classic song Zay el Hawa, inspired by legendary Lebanese dancers and their signature touches, and stylized by Simon. Bring a fringe hip scarf to wear (no coins for this one)!
