An atmospheric programme showcasing the variety and magic of English Song, flowing seamlessly as a continuous journey from the freshness of Spring to the darkest depths of Winter. Themes of nature, musings on what it is to be human, the passing of time, love, ageing, death and new life are present. Each new season develops via a Nocturne entwined with poetry by Michael Armstrong, evoking a sense of spiritualism and magic. This is reflected also in music by Madeleine Dring, Benjamin Britten, Hubert Parry and Jonathan Dove and settings of texts by Vikram Seth, W.H Auden and Walter de la Mare.
