LEAVE IT MASTERCLASS By Canines On Cue

Every year, thousands of dogs are hospitalised or killed by ingesting foreign objects and poisons. A reliable 'LEAVE IT' can save you a very expensive vet bill, and indeed your dogs life.

'CANINES ON CUE MASTERCLASSES' are one off workshops where we take a deep-dive into a single topic or behaviour, teaching everything from the fundamentals, all the way through to generalising the behaviour in high distraction, real life scenarios. The goal of our 'LEAVE IT MASTERCLASS' is to give our dogs (and their humans!) a thorough undertanding of the 'LEAVE IT' command - from start to finish.

In essence, the "Leave It" cue teaches dogs to immediately disengage from an item, area, person, animal, or food. It is crucial for building impulse control, preventing undesirable behaviours, and ensuring safety. The goal is for the dog to develop a reflexive response, where they stop engaging with the item and move away from it without returning later.

A solid 'LEAVE IT' also helps foster better behaviour in social situations with other dogs and humans. It can prevent your dog from being overly curious/annoying or reactive to a person, animal, or situation that might cause conflict. By mastering this cue, you are setting your dog up for more controlled, positive interactions, whether in the home, on walks, or at the park.

WHAT TO BRING:

🐶 A hungry dog! All ages, breeds, shapes and sizes welcome.

🍗High value treats in an accessible bag (cooked chicken, PRIME100 roll, fresh meat)

🪢 Regular flat collar and leash, slip leash or any piece of equipment that gives good control of the dogs head. (All tools welcome if used correctly)

✨ Good vibes and a friendly attitude!

RULES:

🛑 Absolutely NO on leash meetings. We have dogs of all levels of socialisation - ranging from over excitement to extreme fear and reactivity.

🛑 Please respect distance between each dog. Remember, this is not a dog play session.

🛑 Maximum two humans per dog. Please no children playing ball games near the class.

🛑 You must have control of your dog. If you lose control or drop the leash, we follow a strict 2 strikes and you are out rule. This is to ensure the safety of everyone and their dogs.

Join us this October for an action packed, educational, and truly essential lesson in dog training!
