Join Sheila Cailleau of Magpie Chiq in making a pair of Moccasins/shoes.In this workshop you will learn how to cut and sew leather. This is a three day workshop.
It is helpful if you already know how to sew, but even if you don't you will have fun either way , possibly learn a new skill or tap into a hidden talent , meet new friends and have a lot of laughs.
Materials included in workshop:
Leather -cow or bison
Rubber crepe
Wooden or antler buttons
Materials to use in class:
Simew - many colours to choose from
Sewing needles
Pattern clips (also available for purchase)
Scissors
Knives
Pens
Wood burning tools
Day 1 - Choosing, tracing, and cutting leather and crepe. Selecting buttons and wod burning images onto leather
Day 2 - Sewing crepe and leather.
Day 3 - Creating buttons, adding buttons and elastic to shoes.
Sheila is a leather artist that draws her inspiration from the land and her families history of trapping and land based teachings. She honours traditional teaching but loves thinking outside the box. Come and get creative with her!
