About this Event
This isn't a workshop to try and fix the world. It is a space to connect back to your purpose, to find some clarity of what you can do amidst the heartbreak of the world.
We are living in crazy, uncertain times.
Everywhere we turn, we see evidence of crises in our societies and across the world: armed conflicts, climate change, poverty, systemic racism, mass species extinctions, and the collapse of familiar institutions and support structures. It can be hard to know what to do, or where to start, when faced with this immense suffering.
To remain conscious and engaged as these actions unfold can be heartbreaking, and the fear, grief, anger, and helplessness you feel may seem unbearable. This workshop will provide a space to express these emotions and discover a path forward.
Together we will explore 'The Spiral' of The Work That Reconnects, a body of work created by deep ecologist, activist and beloved elder, Joanna Macy.
In this experiential workshop we invite you to be guided through a process that will use small group discussion, creative activities and reflection to:
- Welcome the complex emotions that are alive for you, staying curious as to what these emotions are telling you about who you are and the role you have to play
- Support you to feel less alone with the anxieties and stresses of present-day life, taking time to recognise the radical interconnectedness of all life on Earth
- Resource you to emerge with greater capacity, clarity and courage to take your next steps
Meditation and mindfulness are weaved throughout the session, to facilitate connections back to yourself and life.

WHAT PREVIOUS PARTICIPANTS HAVE SAID:
"This session was life changing. I arrived feeling paralysed by fear and uncertainty but left with a sense of calm. The fear isn't gone, but I feel less alone and more aware of what I can do to make a difference"
“I really felt [the workshop] helped me to open up and talk about things I wouldn’t have thought I’d talk about. Sam and Scott made the space feel open enough that if there was anything we weren’t comfortable taking part in we could just take a break or say how we felt.”
PREPARATION: To ensure you can enjoy the workshop, please wear comfortable clothing and set yourself up in a comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed. Make sure you have a notebook and pen (or your preferred writing/journaling materials) handy, as well as any drinks or snacks to keep you fuelled for the session. For those that are inclined, you may want some tissues nearby. We will give space for a 30 min break part way through.
PAYMENT: We have set a donation option to reduce your ticket fee cost. The donation amount is £10 per ticket, so please enter that amount to purchase your ticket. If ordering more than one ticket please adjust accordingly e.g. 2 tickets @ £20, 3 tickets @ £30 etc. You will only receive 1 ticket in this case but we can see how many you have purchased by the amount you have paid.
EVENTBRITE ORDER CONFIRMATION: Your email confirmation might go into your spam folder. Please check.
QUESTIONS: For any further questions or concerns, please get in touch with Samantha and Scott at [email protected]. You can read more about our own exploration into Work That Reconnects on our substack.
