Welcome to this four day training (with a 2-day online option available), in supporting the transitions of birth and early
motherhood as a rite of passage.
We will explore:
-what ceremony is, and what it can be in the context of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum
-how ceremony can support these experiences as meaningful life transitions and a rite of passage
-ceremonial tools and rituals: what they can be, how they work, and when and why they can be used
-how to create and hold safe ceremonial space
-how ceremonies can be adapted for individuals, couples, or small groups, as well as for specific needs
-working with forms of ceremony that are non-religious in structure and content, while remaining open, inclusive, and respectful toward a wide range of spiritual perspectives
-ethical considerations, including questions of cultural context, consent, and responsibility
-examples of pregnancy and postpartum ceremonies, or ceremonial elements that can be used, adapted, or integrated into your current work
-how this work can take shape in your own practice and in the communities you serve
-ceremony from within, not only learn about it conceptually
This is primarily intended for those already working with mothers during pregnancy, birth, or the postpartum period, and who wish to bring ceremony more consciously into this time of transformation.
Participants may be doulas, midwives, therapists, bodyworkers, yoga teachers, circle holders, or others supporting women and families around birth.
This training is also open to all those who feel drawn toward holding ceremonial space for others, through their own experiences of pregnancy, birth, or postpartum.
No previous experience of ceremonies is required. This training forms a foundation for anyone new to ceremonial work. However, it is also suited for those who are already holding ceremonial space, who wish to deepen their understanding, receive new inspiration, or place their work specifically within the context of motherhood inititation.
