Learning How To Listen ( Panel & Performance)
with Liany Mateo
3PM - 5PM
Join us for an exploration of the history and importance of Black Women Lyricists, particularly from the Jazz music tradition. The focus will be on Black Women who have contributed to the canon of Black American music through their poetry and messages in songs.
The panel will consist of multiple vocalists in NYC, and each panelist will present a piece(s) by their selected lyricist along with their own set of lyrics to illustrate the continued influence these writers have on contemporary artists.
There will be a pre-panel event that will allow time for community journaling session on song lyrics written and performed by Black Women.
All are welcome to attend.
See you then.
