About this workshop: Why is Dutch such an accessible language for English and German speakers? The answer is that these languages are all related. This is why so many words in the Dutch language look familiar at first sight.
Recognising these familiar features can help you build a large vocabulary in a short period of time, even as a complete beginner. But be careful! Among these new assets, you may encounter several “false friends” - words that look familiar, but that actually have totally different meanings in Dutch, English and German.
In this workshop, Direct Dutch Institute looks at English, German, French and other languages, to see how they relate to Dutch. Find out how understanding these relationships will help you gain more insight into Dutch grammar and vocabulary, while allowing you to learn Dutch faster with less difficulty.
Important note: Workshop seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. You need to arrive at the workshop space 15 minutes early to ensure you get a seat.
