About this Event
Learn to turn using high-performance "traditional" HSS tools! In this four-day class, you'll get ten hours of hands-on practice using steel tools to cleanly shear-cut wood; enough time to get a "feel" for using the tools and develop the skill and muscle memory to continue developing those skills at home. Along the way, you will make a handle to complete a server (pizza cutter, pie server, or ice cream scoop) and a turn bowl as well. Topics covered include use of steel tools for shear cutting and scraping, sharpening, both "spindle" and "faceplate" style turning techniques, finishing turned projects, and more! This class meets on the following days (same time each day): 1/14, 1/16, 1/21, and 1/23.
