About this Event
Grab your gay valentine or come solo and join us for an educational and interactive event celebrating queer community, and the love of oysters at the iconic Ginger's Bar in Park Slope! Led by professional oyster shucker Libby Davis, CEO and Founder of Lady Shuckers: mobile raw-bar & event co.
This class offers a premium Maine oyster experience and education, paired with approachable, hands-on instruction. Perfect for beginners and oyster lovers alike, guests will learn how to safely shuck oysters while engaging in a short presentation and open Q&A about oyster farming gear, handling, aquaculture leasing process, sustainability, health benefits and sourcing from women-owned sea farms in Maine.
What's included:
- One dozen oysters per guest, sourced from women-led sea farms in Maine!
- Lemon and classic sauces (lemon, mignonette, cocktail sauce, hot sauce)
- A specialty cocktail courtesy of Ginger's!
- Short presentation on Maine aquaculture and open Q&A with Libby Davis
- Professional oyster shucking instruction
- Oyster knife and cut-resistant glove rental (during class only)
- Lady Shuckers sticker (to take home)
- “Learn to Shuck” infographic print (to take home)
More info:
- Additional drinks will be available for purchase at the bar throughout class
- Learn to Shuck Kits (knife, gloves, tea towel) will also be available for purchase, directly from Lady Shuckers, which includes everything you need to shuck 'em yourself at home!
- We will start as close to 2PM as possible, plan to arrive 10 mins early for check-in.
- Oysters are an aphrodisiac! you never know what could happen :)
