Learn to Play Distilled: A Spirited Strategy Game - from the writer!

Dr Inkwell wants to play a game with you!

Join me at Dogpatch Games for an exclusive Learn to Play! You are invited to sit in one of up to 15 seats to play Distilled: A Spirited Strategy Game. Distilled is a competitive game for up to 5 players each (I'll run up to three games). Over the course of seven rounds, each player can make seven spirits and the one who scores the most points at the end earns the title of Master Distiller! Are you up for the challenge?

Distilled was a 2023 New York Times Top Ten Strategy Game. I'd describe it as a marketplace game with a push-your-luck element, but the thematic elements are king and what people rave about. I wrote the Flavor Cards, all of the accompanying flavor text on the various cards in the game, and advised on spirit-making based on real world rules of distillation. My official title was Spirits Consultant. Dave Beck, the game designer, also put me on the Mixologist card in the game, so we'll definitely be playing with that card too. :)

Experienced player? If we have many of you, I'll put you into your own group and add expansions. Have you played yet with the Cask Strength Variable Market or Africa & Middle East? The extra difficulty makes for a completely new experience.

We'll be playing in a private room at Dogpatch Games that we can dedicate to Distilled. That way I can interrupt the afternoon with related trivia. I'll also have some light refreshments.

Please check in early so that I can begin teaching promptly at 2pm. The game time is largely dependent on the speed of each players' turns. Play time will be limited to three hours, so I want to start on time!

Running late? Feel free to bring take out from Souvla, Marcella's, or another nearby restaurant. After the event, you're invited to walk a block to Third Rail to join me for cocktails and snacks. They have the most incredible mushroom jerky!

DO YOU HAVE A NAME?

At Dr Inkwell's events, one of the funnest parts is coming up with a "Boozephreaks Name" like "Dr Inkwell." Think of it as cocktail drag---the fusion of pun, camp and booze. Use it to show off your pun mastery or to stay anonymous, if you like. Some of my favorite names are: Graham Marnier, Gina Tonik, Margie Rita, etc. If you need inspiration, I can provide. :)

ABOUT DR INKWELL

Dr Inkwell has been the guest speaker & mixologist at the Exploratorium’s Science of Cocktails, the Spirits and Cocktails segment host on local TV show CHNnow, Spirits Consultant (and actual card) on the New York Times 2023 favorite board game “Distilled: A Spirited Strategy Game," and runs the Boozephreaks social media channels on YouTube, Instagram and Tiktok. He’s excited to share his passion for the science, history and craft of making incredible cocktails, as his motto states: “I don’t want you to drink more, I want you to drink well.”
