About this Event
Description: This class focused on hemming jeans three different ways when you shorten existing jeans or make a new one. Whether you want to preserve the original factory finish, create a clean new hem, or explore creative finishing techniques, this workshop will give you the skills and confidence to shorten and hem your jeans at home.
Students will work with denim samples while learning practical alteration techniques commonly used in garment repair and tailoring. Materials are provided, but students may also bring their own pair of jeans to alter during class.
What You Will Learn:
-How to preserve original hem or create a clean new hem finish
-Denim topstitching techniques for a professional look
-How to conceal seam allowance using creative embellishment tricks
-Proper denim sewing techniques for thick fabrics
-What type of needles and thread work best for denim.
Who should take this class: This class is for anyone interested in learning basic alteration skills that can be applied to other garments.
Supplies Provided: Sewing machine, thread, denim samples, sewing tools. If you prefer to bring your own jeans to shorten or hem, you are welcome to do so.
Instructor: Mila Ivanov
Mila is a professional tailor with extensive experience in fashion design, garment construction, fitting, and alterations. She holds a degree in sewing technology.
