If you're curious about fermentation but not sure where to start, this class is for you!
Led by the organizer of the Somerville Fermentation Festival, this beginner-friendly introduction will cover the fundamentals of fermenting vegetables. You'll learn how and why fermentation works, how to keep your ferments safe & when to toss, and the benefits of making and eating fermented foods. You'll make and take home your own 1-quart jar of fermenting sauerkraut along with a written recipe for homemade sauerkraut and lacto-fermented pickles. Sauerkraut samples will be provided and fermentation questions will be answered.
