Május 2-án, csütörtökön első magyarországi koncertjét adja az utóbbi évek egyik legígéretesebb feltörekvő indie rock zenekara, a LEAP.
A stílus egyik legöntörvényűbb, határokat semmibe vevő csapataként ismert, 2018-ban feloszlott The Mispers korábbi énekese, a skót születésű londoni trubadúr, Jack Balfour Scott 2021-ben kezdett szólóprojektbe, ami csakhamar valódi zenekarrá nőtte ki, miután a frontemberhez csatlakoztak legjobb barátai, Hector Cottam dobos, Declan „BullsEye” Brown basszusgitáros, valamint Adam Mason, a fiatal, klasszikus képzettségű gitáros. Így indult el a történet, melynek főszereplőire minden bizonnyal sok érdekes fejezet vár még.
A LEAP eddig két hatszámos EP-t jelentett meg, A debütáló One Million Things 2022 nyarán, míg az azt követő, a tavaszi Európa-turné apropójául szolgáló Dark Habits tavaly novemberben látott napvilágot, a skót-brit-dél-afrikai felmenőkkel rendelkező négyest pedig ezzel párhuzamosan egyre több zenehallgató fedezi fel magának, köszönhetően a rengeteg koncertnek, intenzív színpadi jelenlétüknek, és nem utolsó sorban egyéni stílusú, klasszikus indie rockot, grunge-ot, és modern, elektronikus megoldásokat ötvöző dalaiknak, melyek szövegeiben olyan témákkal foglalkoznak, mint a mentális problémák, a menekülés lehetőségei, ez élet, a kapcsolatok világos és sötét árnyalatai.
Zenéjükben ott van a stílus nagyjainak öröksége, ugyanakkor az indie rock szomorú fiai, ahogy magukat nevezik, sokkal többet adnak az őket hallgatóknak holmi stílusgyakorlatnál: az olyan, azonnal fülbe ragadó, gyakran melankolikus, mégis mindig lendületes számokkal, mint az Exit Signs, a Sleepwalker, vagy talán legnagyobb slágerük, az Energies, úgy tudnak közérthetők lenni, hogy közben a hangszeres és szövegi tartalomról, az izgalmas hangszerelésekről sem feledkeznek meg. Az eddig megtett út pedig minden bizonnyal csak a kezdet, hiszen amellett, hogy idén még számos újdonság várható tőlük, április közepétől egy 20 koncertből álló turnéra indulnak, ami Európa 10 országát érinti.
A Berlinben induló, és hazai pályán, Londonban végződő körúton ezúttal olyan helyekre jutnak el, mint Németország, Hollandia, Franciaország, Csehország, Ausztria, Horvátország, Olaszország, Svájc, Anglia, és pályafutásuk során először Magyarországon is színpadra lépnek, május 2-án, csütörtökön az A38 teraszán, ahol a budapesti klubokban mostanában egyre nagyobb sikereket arató, energikus alternatív pop-rockot játszó @Felleng lesz a vendégzenekaruk.
A Dark Habits Tour állomásainak közel felére már most, hetekkel az első koncertek előtt elkelt minden jegy, szóval ez a késő tavaszi este nehezen kihagyható alkalomnak ígérkezik arra, hogy önálló klubkoncerten lássa a közönség a londoni négyest, akiknek minden esélyük megvan arra, hogy a közeljövő egyik meghatározó gitárzenekara legyenek. Csak hogy illusztráljuk az előző félmondatot, hozzánk időben és térben legközelebb június 15-én lépnek fel a túlzás nélkül legendás @Nova Rock Festival Red Bull színpadán, ami azért nem rossz előjel karrierépítés szempontjából.

On Thursday 2 May, LEAP, one of the most promising up-and-coming indie rock bands of recent years, will play their first concert in Hungary.
Former lead singer of The Mispers, who disbanded in 2018 and was known as one of the most exciting, boundary-pushing bands in the genre, Scottish-born London troubadour Jack Balfour Scott started a solo project in 2021, which soon grew into a full band after the frontman was joined by his best friends Hector Cottam on drums, Declan "BullsEye" Brown on bass and Adam Mason, a young classically trained guitarist. This is how the story began, and many interesting chapters are waiting for the protagonists for sure.

LEAP has released two EPs, each with six songs so far. The debut One Million Things released in the summer of 2022, and the follow-up Dark Habits - which will be presented on the current tour -, was released last November. In the meantime, the Scottish-British-South African quartet are being discovered by a growing family of listeners, thanks to their many gigs, their intense stage presence and, not least, their unique style of songs that combine classic indie rock, grunge with the flavour of modern electronic arrangements, and lyrics that deal with themes such as mental health issues, the ways of escape, the light and dark sides of relationships, and life itself.
Their music has the heritage of the greats of the genre. Still, the sad sons of indie rock, as they call themselves, give their fans much more than some sort of exercise in style: with instantly catchy, often bittersweet, yet always upbeat songs like Exit Signs, SleepWalker, or perhaps their biggest hit Energies, they can be accessible without forgetting the instrumental and lyrical content and the exciting arrangements. And the journey so far is certainly just the beginning, as in addition to several new releases this year, they are embarking on a 20-stop tour of 10 European countries from mid-April.
Starting in Berlin and finishing in London, the tour will take them to Germany, the Netherlands, France, the Czech Republic, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, England and for the first time in their career, they will be playing in Hungary on Thursday 2 May at the A38 Terrace, where they will be joined by @Felleng, the energetic alternative pop-rock band that has been increasingly successful in Budapest clubs.
With nearly half of the Dark Habits Tour already sold-out weeks before the first shows, this late spring evening promises to be a must-see opportunity to catch the London four-piece, who have every chance of becoming one of the defining rock bands of the near future, in a club concert of their own. Just to illustrate the previous half-sentence, the closest they will come to us in time and space is on 15 June at the legendary @Nova Rock Festival, which is not a bad omen for an emerging band.
