Join us for two digital morning sessions focusing on the successful implementation of the Numicon approach
About this Event

Key Learning Outcomes

Bridging the gap between simply teaching with Numicon and delivering a successful whole-school implementation. This digital workshop, delivered over the course of two morning sessions, is designed to support you to review your current school approach to mathematics and the use of Numicon. Through these sessions we will use current research to consider how we can adopt the behaviours that drive effective implementation of a school priority, the roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of the adults during the implementation phase and also consider what successful implementation of your identified priority might look like.

Session Aims
  • Develop an understanding of the suite of Numicon printed and online teaching resources that were developed to support the Concrete Pictorial Abstract approach.
  • Discuss successful implementation of Numicon in your school and how this can be led.
  • Consider the roles, responsibilities and accountability of the Numicon leader throughout the implementation process.
  • Explore how Numicon Essentials ensures curriculum coverage and supports high quality teaching and learning through tried and tested planning, teaching and assessment materials.
  • Discover how Numicon Essentials enables your staff to consider oracy and subject specific vocabulary whilst focusing on problem solving and reasoning strategies.

Agenda
  • Reflect and review on where you as a school on your Numicon journey and how you currently use manipulatives and Numicon resources in your classroom and school
  • Begin to explore Numicon Essentials materials
  • Engage further by considering how the Numicon Essentials could help you to develop your/a school priority
  • Discuss your possible plans and priorities to consider what successful and united implementation would look like.

Session 1 - 20th March - 9.30-12.00

Session 2 - 27th March - 9.30-12.00

Please note all times are GMT/BST

Remote Training

Split across two half-days, our new remote training allows you to access the same Numicon workshops as before – only virtually and without the travel costs. Book onto this course and receive links to two interactive Microsoft Teams workshops, led by an expert Numicon consultant. You’ll have plenty of opportunities during both sessions to try out activities, ask questions and speak to Numicon users from other schools.

Who should attend?

Head teachers, Subject Leaders, SENCOs or teachers who have previously attended an Introduction to Numicon day and who are leading the implementation of Numicon in school or who would like a deeper look into using the Numicon approach

Registration

Once you have booked your ticket all delegates will receive a link to the digital sessions via Microsoft Teams. The link will be sent the day before the session is due to take place so please keep an eye on your inboxes and check your junk folders.
