Join us on March 2nd for our Leading for Justice Advocacy Day!! We'll start at the WV School Service Personnel building (1610 Washington St. E - one block from the WV State Capitol) for a light breakfast, overview of bills, and a chance to prepare for legislative meetings. Next we will head to the capitol for legislative meetings and an opportunity to show state leaders and the public how many West Virginians want to see bold reforms to the carceral system. We will advocate for Second Look Sentencing, Medical Respite (SB 601), and state IDs for people as they leave incarceration (SB 736). We will oppose bills like SB 137 that enhances criminal penalties and HB 4606 which eliminate PR bonds for people charged with felonies. Advocates, friends, family members, and formerly incarcerated are encouraged to attend! Let's join together to reduce incarceration, and bend the arc of the moral universe towards JUSTICE.
