Design. Build. Lead. Make your mark on Winston-Salem.
Are you a high school student in Forsyth County who cares about creativity, community, and making a real difference?
Join us for a week-long, hands-on design experience where you’ll work alongside professional architects, engineers, artists, and community leaders to design and build a public art + garden space in Winston-Salem.
This is a chance to shape a real neighborhood space and leave something behind that matters.
What You’ll Do
- Design a welcoming outdoor park & garden space in partnership with the Boston-Thurmond neighborhood community.
- Explore urban design, architecture, and planning in Winston-Salem
- Sketch, prototype, and build at Mixxer Community Makerspace
- Collaborate with neighborhood residents and local design experts
- Earn digital badges to strengthen your resume and college applications
You’ll learn the Design Thinking process, a powerful framework used by professionals to solve real-world problems, and apply it to a project that serves the community.
By the end of the week, you’ll understand design and also see your city differently.
