LEA BERTUCCI (https://leabertucci.bandcamp.com/)
Lea Bertucci is an experimental musician, composer and performer whose work describes relationships between acoustic phenomena and biological resonance. In addition to her longstanding practice with woodwind instruments, her work incorporates spatialized speaker arrays, radical methods of free improvisation and creative misuses of audio technology. In recent years, her projects have expanded toward site-specific and spatially aware projects that initiate new access points to architecture. Her approach to music is marked by dense masses of sustained dissonance and a fascination with the sonic substance of common experience.
GERMAINE LIU (https://germaineliu.bandcamp.com/album/cats-cradle)
Germaine Liu (Hong Kong born, Cantonese-Chinese-Canadian) works and plays in multi-modalities. As a sound artist, percussionist, improvisor, and explorer of found objects, her work indulges in the permeability between touch/movement/sound, and their relationship to topography and circumstance. As a composer, her current interest is dedicated to creating scenarios for meaningful gatherings that investigate the dimensions of generosity within the scope of inclusivity, exclusivity and belonging. With desires to create collaborative joyful spaces, Germaine aims to celebrate interdependent collectivism in her work. Her latest curiosities in nuance, is urgently felt as a necessary approach to softly meet with fixity and categorization. Germaine is an Associate Artist for Public Recordings.
BLACK GALAXIE (https://blackgalaxie.bandcamp.com/album/black-galaxie-v)
Black Galaxie is the experimental noise project of Canadian composer, Nolan Hildebrand. Since its inception in 2019, Black Galaxie has experimented and dabbled in many different types of skronky sounds, disgusting noises, and chaotic production methods. In its current form, Black Galaxie utilizes mixer feedback, effects pedals, computer software, and voice to create intense and engaging noise music that explores the extremities of sound. The chaotic and improvisatory nature of working with mixer feedback (a.k.a no-input mixer) creates a sound world that ranges from rapidly changing blasts of noise and fast distorted sputtering rhythms to ambient humming static and monolithic drones. The mixer feedback controls a software drum kit to create an extreme metal-esque assault of inhuman rhythms combined with glitched out samples, frantic yelps, and granulated screams. The forthcoming album cutter will be released in the spring of 2024. This album represents the first engagement with the harsh noise subgenre/aesthetic, “cut up harsh noise”.
